Insurance Coverage
All initial consultation costs are covered
by the Government Medical Services Plan (MSP) of British Columbia,
WCB, ICBC or RCMP. Patients arriving from other provinces in Canada,
with the exception of Quebec, are also covered through the reciprocal
billing program that the British Columbia Government Medical Services
Plan has with other Canadian provincial counterparts.
All investigative procedures including X-rays, CAT Scans, MRIs,
bone scans and blood tests may also be ordered through the Government
Medical Services Plan without cost to the patient.
Therapeutic services including manual therapy and some medical procedures
are also included under the umbrella of Government Medical Services
Plan coverage.
Other medical therapies including Medical Acupuncture, Prolotherapy
and Kinesiology Spinal Conditioning Sessions may not be covered
by these agencies, but may be paid for by extended health insurance
policies that may be organized through your employment or by having
purchased these extended coverage policies yourself.
Please inquire at reception if you have any specific questions about
your coverage and our staff will be pleased to assist in providing
you with the appropriate documentation to make sure your claims
through your extended health benefit insurers are properly handled.
Although the clinic does not bill your extended health-care provider
directly, our staff will extend whatever assistance we can to facilitate
providing you with the documentation to receive expeditious reimbursement.
Payment for uninsured services can be paid at the time of service
by cash, cheque, debit cards, Visa or MasterCard. Payment is expected
when service is rendered.
The Chronic Back Pain Clinic does not offer financing for treatment
however we recognize that there are instances when financial situations
are strained. Should you have any difficulties in paying your account,
please talk to our staff at the front desk and we will do all that
we can to see that your medical needs are met and a payment plan
accommodated.
There are times when you may require a report to document your care
in our clinic. These are not services that are generally covered
by your individual Government Medical Services Plan (MSP) policy
and the clinic will ask for payment for these services. This policy
does not apply to the normal practice of providing documentation
to extended health insurance agencies for purpose of reimbursement
of services by third party insurers.
Detailed medical reports requested by employers, insurance companies
or lawyers for purposes of compensation may not be paid for by the
requesting party. In cases where it is specified that patients are
responsible for payment, you will be notified and the service fee
for these services will be discussed with you prior to preparation
of your report. |
